About this Blog

This blog started as an online diary and place for me to rant about annoyances in my family.

However since July it has become a place for me to catalogue and express my views and opinions on the treatment I have recieved following the diagnosis of a potentially cancerous tumor in my bowel.

On 3rd August 2011 I was told that it was cancerous. In April 2012 I was given the all clear.

October 15th 2013 I was diagnosed with peritoneal disease and liver metastases. The cancer was back and this time it is inoperable.

It is a little bit out of date as the NHS doesn't tend to have a WiFi connection in hospital and I can only post when I get home and posts take a while to write.

It is NOT about individuals or the nursing profession. It is about some of the inadequacies in the system and the way the NHS is failing some people.

toothache

I was unfortunate enough to have my wisdom tooth taken out today by something called conscious sedation. This was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. After an injection into the back of my hand, I was blindfolded and then it all goes funny. What I think I can remember is something being put in my mouth and then I think someone made a phonecall. I don't like this, I can't remember and feel violated.
But the tooth is out!!!

False Advertising

I was watching the tv last night and started wondering about the truths told in adverts.

For example the Pampers Baby Dry advert. What parent puts their baby to sleep in just a t shirt and a nappy and not a baby - gro or sleeping bag, there is not even any sign off a blanket.

The cow and gate toddler milk advert, surely most people know that iron is not found in milk and is more commonly found in meat, chocolate and some veggies rather than milk.

Then there are all the car adverts, surely not every car will make that much difference to your lifestyle.

Oh don't even get me started on comparison website adverts or insurance adverts, I never seem to save the massive amounts of money they are promising, why not, because I shop around every year.

But some people complain about the seemingly innocuous adverts maybe the ones above need some censorship

February

Well, February was fun.
A Valentine's day to forget and a last minute dash to a&e for a digested 5p. On top of this there was the disappointment of having my breastfeeding counsellor interview cancelled and the news that the census want me to work for them. This was followed by the realisation that I will have to be in Brighton for 8.30am in March!!!
There was a high point, my little pie turned 1. Yes I, at least for the next four months am the mummy of a 1 year old and a 2 year old.

So what does March hold?
I need to knit some birthday cakes as presents, finish Sharon's birthday present, and crack on with the bobble cushions.
